News and Events

Tuesday 6th February 2007 - Hayley has been accepted by Edgehill University to study towards her Early Years Professional Status (EYPS). Training will commence every Thursday from the 8th February.

Monday 5th February 2007 - Exciting news! As from the 19th February we will have a new memebr of staff join our expanding team of nursery nurses. Kirsteen is highly qualified and has had 9 years experience in a school nursery. Kirsteen will be working with the foundation stage children alongside Hayley and Beth.

Friday 2nd February 2007 - In the Foundation Stage rooms we are trying to promote a Norwegian approach to Early Childhood Education, gained by Hayley during her experience in Norway. We would like the children in our care to go outside daily- whatever the weather come rain, snow or wind!! We cannot emphasise the value of outdoor play enough. Nature has a positive impact on children’s physical and mental well-being.

We think children should be encouraged to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle. We want children to be able to jump in puddles and explore the outdoor life. If Norwegian children can do it in -20 degrees then so can we!!! We think this is an exciting change- children learn a lot from the natural environment and they all love exploring outdoors, also research has shown that less germs are spread when a lot of time is spent outdoors and concentration levels of children are higher. It is a time where they can be noisy, and free to run with opportunities for the development of physical strength, balance and co-ordination.

We hope that you can support us in doing this therefore please can all parents ensure they provide warm and waterproof clothing for their child. Any parent not wishing their child to go out in all weather conditions please let us know and we will respect your wishes. Any child who does not have the appropriate clothing will be kept inside during bad weather.
