Policies

Stables Logo

The aim of the nursery is to provide a stimulating and caring environment where the individual needs of your child will be catered for. Our 'Principles, Policies and Procedures' manual is available for inspection in the nursery and sets out details of all our policies. Some of the key elements are reproduced below.

PICKING UP YOUR CHILD

If possible please do not park or reverse from the drive into Wemsbrook Road. There is parking and turning space outside the nursery and it will be safer for your child to be dropped off there. We MUST be informed if anyone other than a parent is to call for your child.

CLOTHING AND TOYS

Please mark all clothing with your childs name. It is advisable to bring a coat as we play outside - weather permitting. If your child brings a special toy into nursery please ensure that it is labeled. Please ensure that your child has spare clothing in case of any accidents. Pampers Nappies are provided for children aged 2 and over. Slippers are required for children aged 3mths - 18mths in the baby unit.

FOOD AND MEALS

Well balanced, nutritional meals are prepared on the premises and we provide breakfast, lunch, tea and morning/afternoon snacks (depending on session). Please do not send food or sweets into the nursery. We can cater for special diets. Parents are to provide prepared bottles, jars of food & any snacks for babies until able to start Nursery food.

ABSENCES

Please notify us as early as possible if your child is to be absent.

Illness:

We recommend a minimum period away from nursery should your child be suffering from illness.

e.g.:
Chicken Pox - 6 days from onset of rash

Diarrhea/Vomiting - 48 hrs

Conjunctivitis - 24 hrs after treatment has started.

We ask all parents to respect this sickness policy to avoid unnecessary spread of illness to other children, parents and members of staff.

We can offer advice if your child is suffering from any other illness.

Accidents

All accidents are recorded and parents are asked to read and sign any accident forms at the end of the day.

Medicines

Staff are only allowed to administer medication that is prescribed from your doctor and calpol in emergencies only. In which case a medication form will need to be completed in advance.

SETTLING IN PERIOD

We offer a settling in period to allow your child to become familiar with the surroundings, staff and other children. Parents of babies will be asked to complete a 'Routine form' giving details of your childs routine. This will help us manage the transition from home to Nursery more effectively making your child feel comfortable and settled straight away.

COMPLAINTS

We are always happy to discuss any concerns or issues that a parent may have. A meeting can be arranged with the officer in charge or the proprietor if required.

DISCIPLINE

The nursery adopts a calm, positive approach to dealing with disruptive children. Redirection rather than strongly negative 'telling off' is used and no shouting is permitted. On occasions removal from the situation may be required in order to provide the oppurtunity to explain what is expected on a one-to-one basis to allow other children to continue with their activities.

In no circumstances will the nursery use any physical means of punishment
